Back in the Saddle Again

There is no better feeling than getting in the tree stand for the first time of the season.  I was able to do just that this past Saturday.  Even better than simply sitting in the tree stand was the amazing weather.  What a perfect night!  It was nice and cool out and I was able to have three different doe walk within 10 yards of my stand.  The only problem was they were each with at least one spotted fawn.  I just can't seem to pull back on a doe when she is with such a young deer.

Overall what a great start to the 2011 bow season in Maryland!  Even though I didn't get to harvest a deer I got to spend an afternoon alone in the woods enjoying a beautiful day disconnected from the busyness of life.

On Sunday I got to take my daughter Bailey for a short pony ride at Pleasant Valley Stables.  It was great to see her so excited riding Mr. Snickers.  She actually got to brush and feed him after the ride which just completely made her day.
